giant scoops of joy

Thank you for stopping by my little blog! One of the reasons I wanted to start this site was to to share the healthy and nourishing food I cook  up in the kitchen as a newlywed to my high school sweetheart, Joe, as well as just what’s going on in our new life together. I also really want to share  the amazing things Jesus is teaching me and how he blesses me with joy through an imperfect life.

Joe and I live in the far suburbs of Chicago, in a home that we, ok mostly Joe, renovated (along with the help of our family and friends!). There have been many projects, and more to come, but we know that it is a gift to walk into this place everyday.  I majored in elementary education and am currently a nanny and a substitute teacher, hoping to find a full time teaching job someday soon!

I love taking on new physical challenges and just getting my body moving in a way that is fun and enjoyable. If you hate the way you are working out, and never want to do it, then don’t! Find physical activities that you truly love to do! This past year I raced in a 5k, a sprint triathlon, and a midnight 25 mile bike ride through Chicago, all of which were so much fun! There will certainly be more to come…

I usually include Bible verses in my posts as they speak to me, encourage & build me up, and I hope they’ll do the same for you. Life is far from perfect, but I find that my bowl is overflowing, so I hope I can scoop some  joy and nourishment for the belly and the soul into your life too.
